Alice Roy : Lead Vocals & Director

Female Lead Vocalist Alice is the founder of Mojo Rising. She has a Diploma in Classical Music/Singing and an HND in Musical Theatre, and has performed at blues festivals around the UK.

Alice is influenced by Eva Cassidy, Aretha Franklin, Sam Brown & Beyonce and fuses these influences to produce her own unique modern style. From Abba to classic soul and blues standards, let her sweet, sultry, passionate voice enthral your guests and make your day extra special.

 

Fraser Burke : Keyboards & Accordion

Fraser is a professional musician based in Dundee.  He studied classical piano at the RSAMD in Glasgow and holds a Graduate Diploma in Jazz Performance from the University of St.Andrews.  He has played with numerous bands around Scotland and further afield performing folk, rock, classical, jazz and many other styles.

As a former British and Scottish Champion accordionist, Fraser provides ceilidh music for all the Scottish music fans! Fraser recently won the S.O.U.N.D Composers’ Festival held at Aberdeen University and also Heriot-Watt University’s Young Composers Competition. As part of his PhD in Composition, he has also had several opportunities to perform his own pieces with other ensembles, including a piano quintet with the Edinburgh Quartet at St.Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.

 

Jim Chadwin : Guitar & Vocals

With a performance career spanning over 30 years – 10 of which were spent fronting legendary bar-band The Jack Daniels Experience – Jim is unquestionably the ‘old-timer’ of the band!

A highly versatile and respected guitarist, Jim loves playing & singing the wide range of material featured in Mojo Rising’s setlist – but he’s particularly happy to rock out a little when the occasion requires!

 

Stuart Semple : Drums & Percussion

Stuart plays in a variety of musical genres and has worked with musicians ranging from Rick Wakeman, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Spring Heel Jack, Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain to Tommy Smith, Peter Erskine, Derek Watkins, Mark Nightingale, Eddie Severn and ‘The Priests’. He has recently recorded with DJ Yoda, God help the Girl, Cai Marle Garcia, and The London Steve Reich Ensemble. He works with many Orchestras including; BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Concert Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Opera Company, Ulster Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris and chamber ensembles including; Paragon Ensemble, 7 Things, The Red Note Ensemble. Also, in London’s west end with The Lion King, the Royal Shakespeare Company and toured with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Stuart plays in various Jazz, Latin and folk bands with artists such as Gabriel Garrick, Shabaka Hutchings, Russell Van Den Berg, Stefano Kolaranis, Sagat Guirey, Richard Turner, Sam Leak, Tom Millar, and Freddie Gavita. He has performed at The London International Jazz Festival, The Glasgow International Jazz Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, BBC Proms, BBC Proms in the Park, Celtic Connections, for BBC television and for Channel 4.

 

Dave Orr : Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals

Dave first started playing in bands as a teenager and has over 15 years’ experience of playing live. He has worked with a wide variety of artists and his versatile and creative bass playing has taken him on the road to Ireland, America, and various countries in Europe.

He has graced the stage of music festivals including T in the Park, and his solid playing style blends well with the flawless beats of long-term rhythm partner Stuart to form the backbone of Mojo Rising.
